Mahila Shakti Bikash Kendra Nepal (MSBKN), recently organised a refresher training on climate change. The training aimed to refresh the knowledge and skills of the organisation's staff members and empower them to raise awareness among the Village Women Group (VWG) members across program locations.
The training, held at Dhulikhel Village Resort from Asadh 11 to 13, 2080 (June 26-28, 2023), brought together a total of 58 personnel from MSBKN. The participants included central team members, regional coordinators, district coordinators, and core leaders.
Climate change has evolved into a climate crisis, significantly affecting Nepal's economic sectors, livelihoods of vulnerable communities, and especially women. MSBKN recognizes the importance of individual action in mitigating climate change impacts and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. To this end, the organisation conducted a four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) session last year, followed by climate change training for VWG members in 44 program locations.
The refresher training built upon the content covered in the previous ToT, focusing more on practical exercises related to local adaptation, mitigation measures, and the specific impacts on women. Participants were introduced to four tools that assess climate change impacts and facilitate the development of local adaptation strategies through group work exercises. The goal was to equip core leaders and coordinators with practical knowledge to conduct more localised and practical training in the future.
