Women and Climate Change
During the months of January to August 2023, MSBKN, our dedicated CL/RC/DC have conducted an impressive series of 75 training programs on climate change. These transformative programs reached across 12 districts of Nepal: Kavrepalanchowk, Dolakha, Lalitpur, Sindhupalchowk, Taplejung, Panchthar, Doti, Dadeldhura, Lamjung, Tanahu, Kapilvastu, and Rupandehi.
Our Women and Climate Change program is specifically designed to address the profound impact of climate change on women and their communities. With a clear focus on increasing awareness and empowering women to tackle its effects, we are taking significant steps towards creating a sustainable future.
Through comprehensive trainings, we are equipping VWG members with the knowledge to comprehend the adverse impacts of climate change. Our awareness programs, conducted at the local community level, foster understanding of adaptation and mitigation strategies. As women often shoulder the responsibility of caring for their families and communities, their pivotal role in environmental preservation cannot be overlooked.
By strengthening women's capacity to understand and confront the challenges of climate change, our program actively promotes gender equality and drives the sustainable development of communities. Furthermore, we empower women to tap into their traditional knowledge and practices, enabling them to build resilience and adapt to our rapidly changing environment.
Together, we can forge a path towards a resilient future, where women stand at the forefront of climate action, safeguarding their communities and paving the way for a better tomorrow.
