Updated: Aug 2, 2023

During the reporting period from 1st June to 30th June 2023, Mahila Shakti Bikash Kendra Nepal (MSBKN) successfully conducted the "Women Lead in Emergency" initiative in collaboration with Care Nepal. The initiative was held at Panchpokhari Thangpal municipality, ward no-06 of Sindhupalchowk district. The primary objective of this initiative was to raise awareness among women about women's leadership in emergencies, empowering them to identify their needs and voice their concerns.

Key stakeholders, including members of Village Women's Groups, locally elected officials, and municipal staff, actively participated in the initiative. The program included various activities, such as orientation on women's leadership in emergencies, informative sessions with local stakeholders, reflective sessions, and awareness sessions to challenge barriers to women's leadership.

One of the significant achievements of the program was increased awareness among the municipality officials about disaster management initiatives. The participants also emphasized the importance of women's involvement in decision-making during emergencies and took steps to establish a Disaster Management Committee within the Village Women's Groups.

Additionally, the initiative addressed the issue of plastic pollution awareness and waste management, empowering women to take collective action to safeguard their community and agricultural resources.
